These days every school’s morning assembly and every guest speaker’s lecture concludes with inspirational phrases like..

“No kid is unsmart. Every kid’s a genius at something”, “Don’t be afraid of failures. They are just stepping stones to success.”. “Respect your parents and teachers for you owe a lot to them.”

Quite commendable!! But do you think these words really make an impression on them? Do the children really believe they have great power within? Are the students really not afraid of failure? Do they really care for and respect their parents? Do you think they are prepared enough to tackle any situation whatsoever that comes in life?

What is it in essence that makes one child different from the other?

Well this scientific study can help us think through- “Environment has its greatest influence on a human characteristic like intelligence, patience, compassion, courage, tolerance– during the period of time in which the characteristic is undergoing its greatest rate of growth or change – “the Childhood”.

We happened to meet a girl in a school once who lost her speech clarity merely due to study & exam pressure. Are these the doctors, engineers, or scholars we aim to see in the future?

Children are the future of our nation hence it becomes indispensable to nourish them well physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

What do BSKs do?

As they say – “Play is our brain’s favorite way of learning!!”

The Kendras provide an environment where great virtues are instilled in the kids in a playful manner with the help of fun games, songs, skits, couplets, stories, quizzes, inspirational life sketches of great Saints, freedom fighters, and true heroes.

Let us take a quick tour of the BSK Session-

Every session starts with deep ‘Hari OM’ chanting followed by Guru Vandana. Thereafter it is a blend of various activities, games, stories, and a lot more. In essence, it is focused on these areas-

Personality Development:

To awaken the dormant powers in children, they are taught Wonderful psychological techniques given by our Vedic Culture!

•Techniques to increase memory power and concentration

•Tips & techniques to succeed in Exams

•Yogasan – For a healthy body& mind

•Pranayam – Kids are made to understand the inner science of breath practice to relax their mind

•Meditation – Effortless ways of meditation for stress-free and self-reliant living

•Food knowledge – Yes, we have seen kids giving up junk foods and unhealthy habits after the sessions. Few parents even shared the funny yet adorable incidents of kids being vigilant of parent’s unhealthy food habits too.

Spiritual Development:

Kids are acquainted with the religious practices of Vedic Culture and the deep science working behind them. To name a few-

•Surya Arghya •Relevance of Festivals •Science of Yogic Chakras •Mudras

•The inspirational tales of the devotees of God infuse the attribute of deep belief in the Supreme Power. They explained the importance of name chanting (Jap) through various practical incidents.

•Learning and chanting verses from scriptures like Bhagwad Gita, Guru Ashtakam, Ramayan, and chanting mantras.

•Character Building

Pujya Bapuji deeply motivates children to fearlessly face challenges in life-

At the same time, kids are encouraged to instill the virtues of kindness, humbleness, and sympathy for all beings.

This has been an experience of many volunteers engaged in the BSK service, that the innocence of a child allows the infusion of every word and moral (taught to him) in his conscience steadily.

Recalling a sweet incident from a session focussed on compassion, a small boy innocently asked “Definitely we should not kill or hurt anyone but shall we not kill the mosquitoes also if they bite us?

Well, prepare yourself when you encounter this question from your kids. But on a serious note, this made us think about the significance of every teaching on these innocent minds!!

Social Development:

•BSKs aimed at empowering children so they become competent enough to bring golden glory to their Parents, their Country, and the Indian Culture in the future.

•Elaborating on the importance of Parents and teachers in life, the virtues of respect and politeness are instilled in them.

•The incidents of war heroes inculcate bravery and patriotism in them.
