The Tulsi Pujan Diwas is observed on 25th December every year in many countries by Millions and Millions of people.

Tulsi plants also known as Holy basil and Ocimum sanctum Linn as their own Medical and scientific history and importance but even before such discovery the importance of Tulsi is already described in our scriptures like Veda, Puranas, and Upnishads, etc.

Example, as per Skanda Purana, where there is a garden of Tulsi and worship is done at such places Yamaduta never enters there.

As per several surveys and studies, it's been noticed that from 25 December to 1 January the consumption of alcohol, drugs, and other narcotics increases among the youths and also among elders which causes a lot of destruction.

Celebration and worship of Shri Tulsi ji, helps us avoid all such negative vibes and also helps us gain the adhyatmik energies.

Well that's the importance and Why of Shri tulsi pujan, Lets discuss the Steps now!

Steps to Tulsi Pujan:

On 25th December, get up early in the morning and after taking a bath.

Step 1- Place the pot of the Tulsi Plant on an elevated platform.

Step 2- Offer water to Tulsi by chanting the following mantra:

महाप्रसादजननी सर्वसौभाग्यवर्धिनी । आधिव्याधि हरिर्नित्यं तुलसि त्वां नमोऽस्तुते ॥

Mahaaprasaadajanani Sarvasaubhaagyavardhinee । Aadhivyaadhi Harirnityam Tulsi Twaam NamostuTe ॥

Step 3- Apply a Tilaka on your forehead by chanting the mantra:

ॐ तुलस्यै नमः

(Tulsyai Namah)

Step 4 - Offer akshat(अक्षत or unbroken rice) and flowers along with some Prasada to the deity of the Tulsi plant, Mother Tulsi(माता श्री तुलसी जी, or भगवती श्री तुलसी जी).

Steps 5: Chant the Tulsi Namaastkam (तुलसी नामाष्टकम)

वृन्दां वृन्दावनीं विश्वपावनीं विश्वपूजिताम् ।

 पुष्पसारां नन्दिनीं च तुलसी कृष्णजीवनीम् ॥

 एतन्नामाष्टकं चैततोत्रं नामार्थसंयुतम् ।

 यः पठेत्तां च संपूज्य सोऽश्वमेधफलं लभेत् ॥

Vrindaam Vrindaavaneem Vishwapaawaneem Vishwapoojitaam ।

 Pushpasaaraam Nandineem Cha Tulseem Krishnajeevaneem ॥

 Etannaamaashtakam Chaitatstotram naamaarthasanyutam ।

 Yah Pathettaam Cha Sampoojya Soashwamedhafalam labhet ॥

Step 6 - Light the dīpaka (a lamp) and perform the Aarti of the Tulsi Ji.

Step 7 - Circumambulate the Tulsi plant 7, 11, 21, 51, or 108 times.

Step 8 - Sit down on the floor in your comfort posture (like Sukhasan, Padmasan, Sidhasan, etc.) in this pious environment and pray to the Bhagwati(Mata/Mother) Tulsi.

Step 9 - Do the Pranayama near the Tulsi plant which increases strength, intellect, and vigor(If possible). Prepare your favorite Satvik Prasada and add the Tulsi leaves in it and finally distribute it among all the people there.

That's all the Steps are and with that process completes.

💡> "The goddess Tulsi is known by the eight names which are- Vrinda, Vrindavani, Vishvapavani, Visvapujita, Pushpasara, Nandini, Tulsi, and Krishnajivani. All these epithets are turned into the form of a stotra and whosoever adores Tulsi and recites this stotra earns the merit of performing an Ashvamedha sacrifice." (The Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Prakriti Khanda: 22.32-33)
